problems I found with recording my performance were.

Surrounding noise
whilst performing a dog would bark or Logan would cry. Noises from outside would mask my singing. Then after trying to prevent these I realised they added to the authenticity of the performance. The piece is about me and my life and these noises are everyday occurrences for me and then should be in my performance.

Editing
Editing my piece was sometimes difficult as the program I was using video pad was quite slow sometimes and when previewing the piece it was in slow motion and was hard to see if the effects were right. Also I found the program quite alien so had to get my brother to help explain how to work the effects.

Angles
For each shot I wanted it to be slightly different but finding different angels proved difficult. I tried to be inventive, for example shooting through a mirror. I think if I had more time I would have come up with many more interesting ways.

This clip if from the film raise your voice. It is one of my favourite films. It is about a young girl moving on after the death of her brother through music. when my granddad died I also got through that hard time using music. please watch this clip from 7.55, this is the audition video that her brother sent into the music school she gets in. This video really shows the personality of Terry the young girl and shows her story through music and that’s what I want to try and do in my performance.

This was my piece before I changed my idea. I am putting this up to show my progress and for you to understand why I changed my idea.

1. because using the pictures looked amateur
2. It was hard to add the music to the pictures
3. lots of glitches were appearing
4. It didn’t feel like a performance
5. will look much better with video
6. will seem more professional

After working on this piece and putting all the parts together. I realised it doesn’t work as well and give the same effect as I first thought. Having just the picture on screen and the difficulty of putting all the different songs together, under my voice. I just wasn’t happy with it. So after a lot of thought I have decided to use video and create a kind of medley of songs, using my voice and my guitar. I believe that being able to see me sing and play the guitar will give a much more professional effect. I feel the audience will be more interested I the performance.

I also realised that the piece was becoming more about other people then me, like my dads, my granddad and my partner. I don’t want this in the performance. I want it to be about my life and my feelings using music to portray this.

This is the song that I will be singing in my peice for my grandad. Every time I here it, I remember him.
